Manufactured Home Inspection or Mobile Home Inspection

Inspecting the Tie downs, Vapor Barriers and Undercarriage are extremely important for a Mobile or Manufactured home. Tropical Sun Home Inspection provides qualified manufactured and mobile home inspection services in Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Parrish, Sarasota and surrounding areas. Mobile homes require the same standard of attention and thoroughness as a traditional home inspection however, with mobile homes we also examine the Tie downs, Vapor Barriers and Undercarriage. Due to the high level of moisture and threat of hurricanes here in Florida, these items are incredibly important to inspect.

  • Vapor barriers assist in the reduction of moisture that can seep up through the floor from the ground beneath and these often can become torn and/or detached without you knowing it.
  • Tie-downs are elaborate, heavy-duty straps and anchors designed to bring stability to manufactured and mobile homes during high, intense winds. Poorly maintained or improperly installed tie-downs could result in reduced capacity to resist sliding or worse the overturning of your home. Manufactured homes are much more easily flipped and damaged during windstorms than site-built homes which is why they need tie-downs to stay stable. In addition to this, Mobile Homes or Manufactured homes are elevated and rather lightweight when compared to site-built homes which makes them vulnerable to being uplift by strong winds if they are not equipped with skirting properly. Wind passing under and over the top of such homes can worsen and intensify the effect.

Some items we inspect thoroughly during your Manufactured Home Inspection or Mobile Home Inspection for the Undercarriage Inspection:

  • Checking for loose straps.
  • Looking for straps and anchors that show signs of damage or corrosion.
  • Ensuring straps and ground anchors are not damaged or rusted.
  • Investigating whether the straps are kinked or bent, or otherwise abnormally stressed.
  • Examining thoroughly the vapor barriers to make sure the barriers are not torn or damaged.

The cost of a manufactured or mobile home inspection is based on the age of the home as well as square footage.
